Moonlight Masquerade Giveaway Hop
For my part in the hop, I'm featuring my short little sexy story, "Asian Persuasion."
It's not technically Halloween related, but there *is* a rather sexy mask involved!
Entering is simple - just leave a comment below, and be sure to include your e-mail address. GOOD LUCK!!
Here's the blurb:
Arata Ito, has a reputation for taking what he wants at business meetings, and what he wants now is Caleb. When Caleb’s boss asks him to romance the potential investor, he’s outraged, but goes along with it because the company could really use the money. But something about Arata is familiar. Is the sexy Japanese man all he seems?
And here's a little snippet:
Caleb ran his hands down the front of his body. No wonder Hikaru hadn't liked his wardrobe! He squared his shoulders, made a mental note to choke Alonzo, and stepped further into the room.
Hikaru touched his shoulder and pointed to a door on the other side. "Sensei back there. You go. Guard show you in." She gave him a gentle shove in the direction of the door.
Caleb took a deep breath. Get hold of yourself! It wouldn't be that bad. He would speak with Ito, be pleasant, explain he was married, and that would be the end of it. Ito was a businessman, right? He swallowed hard. Ito wouldn't do anything stupid. Like rape him. Right?
He walked with purpose across the room, mentally telling himself to keep walking, keep putting one foot in front of the other, until he came abreast of the guard at the door.
The guard -- a hulking dark skinned man with muscles practically bursting through his tight red t-shirt -- nodded and opened the door, gestured him into the room.

The Obligatory GRL Post
So here's my GRL post.
I left for GLR on Wednesday, 10/17 at around 3:30 PM EST. I managed not to burst into tears in the security line this year. Go me! The flight into Detroit was a little late, so I ran to my connection. The flight into Salt Lake City was a little late, so I ran to my connection. The flight into Albq was right on time, which is always how it is when it never matters. LOL During the flights I met a young man who was traveling with his mother and a gaggle of children to Oklahoma, a lovely lady named Jeanie with an adorable grandson, and a man whose name I didn't get, but who said he'd never turned down a Hershey's Kiss in his life. (I offered him one out of the $16 bag I'd bought in the airport. And no, $16 does not buy you a lot of kisses at an airport, Hershey's or otherwise, I'd imagine.)
The first night I had room service and a dip in the zacuzzi tub. Very nice. Dinner was a steak, some veggies, decaf coffee, and creme brulee. Yum.
I headed down to registration and the swag room Thurs morning, and discovered that all but 3 of my tins of mints had been snapped up, which was kinda cool. Until I realized that it was probably more the mints than the fact that my name was on them...which lead to the inevitable conclusion that about 147 people had just narrowly avoided halitosis, and I was quite proud I'd helped.
Michele Montgomery and I went to the zoo after a while, where she animal-gasimed over giraffes, and we heard a lion roar in person for the first time ever. I got it on video. It's still very impressive. We came back and I think we had dinner in one of the hotel cafes.
Friday I was up at the ass crack of dawn for a hot air balloon ride. Turns out, the ground looks surprisingly similar from the air as it does from well, the ground. But it was still a lot of fun, and I can now say I've done it.
After that was the trip to the TQ lunch thing, Old Town, and the MLR Day of the Dead Party. I understand one of the buses dropped a bunch of people off at the wrong place, but fortunately I was not one of them. There wasn't anything at the TQ lunch I felt safe eating (the one "chef" didn't know what gluten was, and I'm still not sure the other spoke English). In Old Town I managed to find a lovely ice cream shop with gluten free nachos, which I nommed on and proclaimed to be the "best thing I'd ever eaten!" I may have just been hungry...
I found some really cool souvenirs, including a metal sculpture of Predator for my honey. I also got a couple shirts, some post cards - and some other cute small stuff.
I left the Day of the Dead party early and headed back to my room. That may have been the night a few of us went out to The Olive Garden and encountered the highest/drunkest/craziest waiter I've ever met.
Saturday I went to lunch at Wreck's with my friend Barry, who lives in Albq for some reason I've yet to figure out, and his wife and kids. Fun times!! We swung by the Candy Lady on the way back to the hotel, and I bought some erotic chocolate. I got back in time to carouze the room at the author book signing (I have been informed I *will* have a table of my own next year, so help me God, and on pain of death...) and then a bunch of us went to dinner in the hotel.
Sunday I got to spend a few minutes at the goodbye brunch, and then it was off to the airport. My flight to Salt Lake City was on time, but when I arrived the next flight had been delayed, and there was a possibility of missing the next flight. They'd double booked me already, for a flight out Monday morning. On the plane I ended up sitting in the middle of a group of young men and women from Germany, all but two of whom were absolutely some of the rudest people I'd ever encountered. One of them decided to sit between myself and his friend, perched with his feet in the seat, backward, with his tight pink-pants-enshrouded ass swaying in the wind. I was decidedly unimpressed.
When I got to Detroit they radioed my plane and I ran - literally ran - through the airport. Not a pretty sight, I'm sure. But I didn't make it, and ended up spending the night at the Embassy Suites in Detroit, which has, by the way, one of the most impressive in-room coffee situations I've ever seen, *and* room service coffee is Starbucks. I vote Detroit for GRL 2014!
I got home on Monday, early enough to still have some day left, and Hubby had decorated the house for my birthday, made me cupcakes, bought my favorite soda, and made me homemade BBQ. When we pulled up, the two packages I'd Fed-Ex'd from Albq were sitting on the front steps. Perfect timing.
All in all, it was a good trip. I really wish the hotel had been more centrally located - cab fair to the zoo was $40 one way - a little prohibitive, and the trip to Olive Garden was all of 45 minutes one way. So I didn't get to get out and see the city or do a lot of the things I wanted. I did do more of the retreat events this year, and met a few more people than I did last year. Some of whom were wonderful and I'll treasure forever. There were a couple disappointments as far as people not being who I'd thought they were, and one person who literally looked me up and down, sneered, shook my hand and walked away. But valuable lessons were learned, even in the face of pain, so it's all good.
I'm looking forward to next year!
You can see all the photos I took on my Facebook page!

Special Note Re: Wicked After Dark
Despite scheduling the Wicked After Dark Blog Hop post for the right time (I checked it again) Blogger decided to launch it early.
My plan was to find the prize tonight - going out looking for a coffin and goodies, and if I couldn't find that, then I'd change what I'd written, insert a pic, and all would be good.
So the post is up and incomplete. I'd pull the post but it already has 3 comments.
So.... LOL I'll look for the coffin tonight but if I can't find one, hopefully everyone will understand and not be too disappointed!

BlisseKisse After Dark
Here's my kissing excerpt for BlisseKiss After Dark. They're inside, but it's dark out, trust me!
This is from "Serge's Gift" which is included in the upcoming "Crimson Anthology" from Breathless Press.
"Bryan?" Serge calls my name, pants it or moans it, I'm not sure which, but the sound is velvet in my ears; I can literally feel his voice sliding into my brain. I can't remember ever wanting anyone this much, even him. "Say it, Bryan. Say you're mine."
"Yours." God, he's absolutely like a drug -- I'll say any goddamn thing to keep him this close, keep his hands on me, keep his body pressed against mine.
Reality runs away from me, and I don't even try to stop it. Serge kisses me, lips like fire against mine. He pushes his tongue inside my mouth, not asking permission but taking what's rightfully his. One of his hands grips the back of my neck, the other surrounds my cock. I buck up into that touch, craving the sensation of flesh on flesh, the feeling intense beyond anything I've imagined.
For my giveaway, I'm offering up a free pdf copy of my other fabulous m/m vampire story, "Orion's Way" (since Crimson isn't out yet).
To be entered, just leave a comment below with your e-mail.
Good luck!!

Wicked Romances Giveaway Hop
The "wicked" romance I'm offering in my giveaway today is my story "Asian Persuasion." For me, it's a "wicked" story because the main character is tempted with a very sexy choice!

NEW RELEASE - "Nothing to Forgive"
Click the Cover to Purchase!
Blurb:
Finally done with war and fighting, Hadryk, a military officer, has agreed to be a pup host - to be impregnated - in order to protect his lover, Vodwynn, and he can't hide the proof much longer. Embarrassed and worried, he considers staying with his brother instead of going home, but, drawn by his love, he goes home to Planet Torbid and Vodwynn. Vodwynn reacts as anyone would. But when he realizes the sacrifice Hadryk has made, can he change his mind? Can he open his heart to discover the new wonders of Hadryk's body, and how strong their love truly is?
Excerpt:
The stars whizzed by in mesmerizing streaks of white, giving
way to wispy nothing violet clouds as they entered the atmosphere. Hadryk
stared out the window at the approaching ground of Planet Torbid. He should be
happy to see his home. Instead, his guts twisted and he broke out in a cold
sweat. How would he explain things to his lover? How would he make Vodwynn see
he’d had no choice in the situation?
The shuttle descended sharply, and one of the guards got to
his feet, tight gorton hide armor creaking softly with his movements.
“General.”
Hadryk nodded to the guard and stood and his heart sank into
his boots.
The guard snapped to attention and raised a hand in salute,
thumb against his temple, fingers splayed wide. “On behalf of the Predeck and a
grateful Legion, I thank you for your service.”
Hadryk grunted and returned the salute. He stepped off the
shuttle, out of the confines of that quiet little dark cocoon, and into the
bright, bustling day of his homeland. Chill winds met him, and he was thankful
for the extra layers he wore, even if they hadn’t been intended to stave off
the cold. Portak and Borta, the twin moons, could just be seen to the far east,
harbingers of not far off dusk. He shouldered his pack and started off down the
street.
Strangers rushed up to him, some giving mock salutes, others
patting him on the back and wishing him well. If any of them had actually known
him, they might have noticed that he looked a little different. A little
bigger. A little fatter. But no one seemed the wiser. Perhaps he could keep it
that way—at least for a while.
He arrived at his home and stood there on the wide bottom
step, staring stupidly at the door, his gaze tracing the intricate scrollwork
of his family crest. Vodwynn wasn’t expecting him for another cycle or two. He
shuffled his feet and glanced up and down the street. Perhaps it would be
better to stay somewhere else for the time being. He could hop another
shuttle—take one to Darmuth and stay with his brother, Tamar. That might be the
best thing to do, considering. He ran a hand down over his belly absently. He
could send Vodwynn a message; say he would be back in six cycles—that would be
enough time.
“Hadryk?”
Hadryk cursed silently and looked up to see his lover
standing in the doorway. Warm light from within shone like a beacon. He hadn’t
heard the door open.
“By the twin moons!” Vodwynn threw his arms around Hadryk’s
neck, sobbing happily. He pulled back and stood close, hands holding Hadryk’s
cheeks. His gaze strayed to Hadryk’s hair. Or lack thereof. “Your hair...” He
stroked Hadryk’s once long locks.
Hadryk had all but forgotten about the hair until today.
Visions of desolate sands flowing into sweltering swamplands clouded his mind.
He shook them off with a shrug. “Durcat gets hot during the summer. We all cut
our hair.”
“You’re shivering!”
Was he? Hadryk hadn’t noticed. He reached out and touched
Vodwynn’s cheek, trailed his fingers down the side of Vodwynn’s face. “The day
is cold. Nothing more.”
“Come, I’ll start a shower to warm you.”
Not the homecoming he had wanted, but neither was the
homecoming he wanted the one he could have. Not anymore. Not like this. He
followed Vodwynn into their home—everything looked so familiar and comfortable,
from the overstuffed couch to the blanket with abandoned book atop piled
haphazardly in Vodwynn’s favorite chair—and down the hall to the small
washroom. He stood to the side as Vodwynn prepared the water, humming softly
and looking over at him every now and then with a sweet smile that broke his
heart. The banging and groaning of the metal pipes made him flinch.
Vodwynn straightened and gestured to the shower stall. “I
can stay. Help you...” That sweet smile turned to a seductive one, and Hadryk
swallowed down bile.
Blogger Virtual Zombie Walk 2012
Long before I penned my m/m/m zombie apocalypse tale, "Bad Moon Rising," I was a zombie fan.
Why? What's the draw?
For me, it's two fold. One on hand, I love the gore. Growing up, when all the other kids were hiding behind their parents' shoulders during horror films, I was intently staring at the screen, trying to figure out how it had all been done. The art behind the effects fascinates me.
On the other hand, I'm drawn to the dogma. The idea of our high and mighty society being brought to its knees with one fail swoop - that's mind-numbingly large. It's interesting to see the different takes on the "zombie apocalypse" out there in entertainment.
For instance, in the "28 Days" films, the zombies are the result of the "rage virus." It's a commentary on our society - that if we continue to be angry people, that anger will eventually turn on us. It's also this franchise that gives us a non-bite infection - in the first movie, one of the characters is infected when a drop of "rage virus" tainted blood falls into his eye.
Then there's "The Boneyard," which gives us flesh eating monsters who are the result of an age-old curse.
In some movies, zombies are only interested in human flesh. However in Romero's "Survival of the Dead," the zombies are taught to eat horse meat.
Another interesting spin is the movie "I am Legend" (which yes, I know these are technically more like vampires, but hear me out...) we're shown thinking monsters. These monsters use tools. They create traps. They have a leader. At one point in the movie, Will Smith's character remarks that they've lost all their humanity, but I think it's the other way round. I think, as they are, they're more human than not. Humanity at its basest is still human.
In any event, I'm giving away a prize today to one lucky, random winner. I'm offering up a free pdf copy of "Bad Moon Rising."
Here's the blurb:

The Alpha Male Blog Hop
I've often been asked, "what makes a man an alpha?"
Some people think it's the size that counts, but I have to kindly disagree, since I, myself am only 4' 9" but am very much an alpha.
Alphas know how to take control, and they don't shy from it. In a bad situation -- in a disaster -- it's the alpha who comes up with the plan. The alpha who people look for for assurances and comfort. The alpha is also the one who sticks his neck out, who goes the extra mile for his friends and loved ones.
Being an alpha is all about attitude, but you've got to be able to back it up. I don't mean physically, I mean emotionally and mentally. Alphas have that certain something -- that illusive thing called mojo.
Who is my favorite alpha from my books? That would have to be Malagan, my sexy vampire from "Orion's Way."
Blurb:
Orion is a vampire with a tragic past. After running away from abusive parents at the tender age of sixteen, he was turned by a ruthless elder vampire and forced to torture and sexually abuse human feeders and submissive vampires. Though that's all behind him now, he still lives in the shadow of what he was, and it has cost him the loyalty of Xavier, the human feeder he loves. Malagan is Orion's closest friend--the vampire who saved him from brutality all those years ago. Malagan knows the dominant side of Orion--the side Xavier needs--is still there, lurking below the surface. But if Orion's going to find his way back to who he ought to be, he'll need help. And Malagan is just the man for the job.
And here's an excerpt:
“Do you enjoy my attentions?” he asked.
Malagan raised his head and met Orion’s gaze. “Yes, Master. Very much.” He pulled his hands around in front of him and held them out to Orion. “Would you tie my wrists please, Master?”
Orion raised an eyebrow, looked down to Malagan’s hands and back up to his face. A test, of course. They had already set ground rules, and no Dom worth anything would go back on his word in the heat of the moment. Orion shook his head. “No.”
Malagan nodded and smiled. “Dom to Dom, you may bind me, if you wish.”
Malagan really did trust him. Hearing Malagan profess his trust was all well and good, but having Malagan make such a gesture, having Malagan place his safety in Orion’s hands, was something else entirely. A spike of adrenaline made Orion’s heart race and his blood pound in his ears. He turned immediately and went to the table, grabbed up a pair of leather cuffs and hurried back to Malagan, nearly tripping over his own feet.
“Easy,” Malagan murmured. “A little less eager, there, if you don’t mind.”
Orion took a deep breath and nodded. Hands shaking, he reached out with the cuffs.
“Steady yourself,” Malagan told him. “Your nerves are understandable, but your sub will feed off them. You know that. Think for a moment, before you act.”
Orion shuddered and turned away, barely suppressing the sob that suddenly rose in his throat. He couldn’t do this. Who was he kidding? He was broken, worthless. For God’s sake, he couldn’t even dominate another Dom without being coached. He sucked in a breath as Malagan’s arms slid around him and pulled him close. Malagan took the cuffs from him and turned him around.
Malagan went down on his knees and gazed up at Orion, holding out the cuffs. “Please, Master.”
Orion took them, stared at them for a long moment as he fought to control his ragged breathing and the staccato beating of his heart. Malagan’s pleading eyes bore into his soul, and something finally clicked inside him. He fastened the cuffs around Malagan’s wrists, ran his finger under the edge of each to ensure they weren’t too tight.
All his old instincts came back to him in a rush. He ran his hand through Malagan’s hair as he moved again, coming to a stop behind him. Riding the high of power, he placed his foot in the middle of Malagan’s back and gave a push. “Ass up.”

NSFW Hot in Handcuffs Giveaway Blog Hop
For my part in this hop, I'm giving away one pdf copy of my 7-story anthology, "Simply Smut" to a lucky winner. Goes well, wouldn't you say? ::grin::
Here's the 411 on "Simply Smut"
Blurb:
Come watch Amber, whose online adventures have left her panting and ready. Or maybe you'd rather play with Jason, a sexy writer who has finally figured out the plotline of his life revolves around his hot assistant, Paul. And don't forget Chase, the sexy transgender man heading the right way for some steamy sex with fellow ftm Toby. These are just three of your options. You've got thirteen playmates at your disposal in these seven stories - all guaranteed to rev your engine and keep it running. All. Night. Long.
And here's a VERY NOT SAFE FOR WORK excerpt from one of the stories, "Rub-a-Dub-Dub."
Amber slid just the tip of her middle finger into her mouth. Pretending her finger was another woman’s clit, she licked, sucked, and nibbled. Her own clit was full and swollen, her pussy wet and her ass tight with anticipation. Releasing her finger, she trailed it along her chest again, between her breasts, down into the water to toy with the fine, curly hairs between her legs.
A soft moan of need escaped her and she moved her hand down. She brushed her fingers over her pussy lips with barely any pressure, smiling as she lifted her hips, instinctively seeking more, warm water sloshing around her. Amber had never known anyone who could get her off as well as she could herself. Something about knowing she controlled her own pleasure made her crazy with lust.
“More,” she whispered. She parted her pussy lips gently, loving the way she could feel them separate under her fingers. She slowly traced her index finger across her clit, shivering as waves of pleasure raced through her. “Yes...”

EXCERPT:
Branko's eyes, unseeing, gazed up to the heaven I hoped he had gone to. What freakin' heaven, for God's sake? Who was I fooling? Out of the black sky, a wave of hopelessness thundered over me. For an instant a cavity opened and closed, but I had seen inside, and that image of empty loneliness scratched at my sanity.
I fell forward onto my knees by his side and touched an unblemished cheek. It was cold. This was the face Ana loved. I felt her sorrow, and tears threatened. I brushed his hair into place and rubbed at the dirt on that cheek. I had seen more death than most people see in a century of life, but this was Branko. He had a name. I had talked to him. I had liked him.
I heaved my pack onto my back, snatched up the rifle, checked the magazine and put the safety on. There was nothing I could do for Branko, but I could help save his family--if I could get to them before they reached the pass.
I turned around and faced the mountains. That was where I was going. Up there into the snow.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Since a child, I have been driven to explore, look beyond and search out change. This took me to the Fiji Islands on Volunteer Service Abroad at eighteen and after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Auckland, to Italy, where I stayed for the next decade. I had been out to conquer the world but instead met the man who was to become my lifelong companion. While he studied and did military service, I taught English and travelled.
But the settling down bug caught up with me. I returned to New Zealand, husband in tow, bought a house, started up a business in the fashion industry and had a baby. For many years we worked, worried, renovated houses and homeschooled our son.
However, the need to chill out came back, and now we still work while our son studies for his second degree, but we worry less and enjoy life more.
Roll on the next fifty years.

Fraterfest Read-A-Thon
Okay. So the idea behind this is: "You can read whatever you want as long as one book is either a Rhiannon Frater novel or a bump in the night book (vampire, zombie, shapeshifter, ghost etc)."
Since it doesn't appear that Frater writes m/m, which is what I like to read I chose to read a "bump in the night" book. I picked:
"Dreaming in Color" By Cameron Dane.
Here's the blurb:
The sight of the red door saves Colin Baxter in his dream, but very quickly a man appears and the dream becomes a thing of raw sexual need with a person Colin can’t identify. He just knows the man needs him, and Colin aches to find and heal his lover…even if the man doesn’t really exist.
Marek Donovan just wants to be left alone to lick his wounds and recover from a terrible loss. The rundown house in Fiji suits his minimal needs just fine. He doesn’t want to face the world again, and on a small, secluded island figures he’s safe from everyone and everything. Particularly guilt from his past.
Dreams of this nameless man and his house plague Colin for two years, but he’s come to care about his phantom lover so deeply he doesn’t want them to end. Then Colin visits Fiji and comes face-to-face with the house from his visions, prompting him to believe these dreams just might be his destiny.
Colin knocks on the door, determined to find answers. What he finds is a man he already knows.
Now, most of you know I purposely don't read m/m romance, and I don't have much time for reading in general. Still, I thought I'd give this a go. I've never read anything of Dane's, so we'll see.
I'm not sure what sort of paranormal it is... the blurb leads me to think ghosts? But I'll let you know what I think as I go, right in this very post.
******UPDATE*******
Okay. So I'm a little late at posting this, but things have been up and down, and I've finally got a second to sit down.
I don't want to give too much information away, because I don't want to spoil the book for anyone.
I have to say, I really enjoyed this book. I loved, loved, *loved* (did I mention loved?) the premise, and here's why:
1. I have always wanted a red door on my house. Red is cheery and warm, but also spicy and strong. Also, my mother always said only whores wore red. Consequently, I didn't wear much red. I think maybe, too, it has to do with going home to that black and brown door - knowing what kind of hell was behind it for me. A red door was the farthest thing from that I could imagine. I love that Marek, even at a young age, wants a red door.
2. I have never felt particularly at home anywhere. The house I grew up in held nothing but pain for me. The first apartment I moved into was equally tainted, but for different reasons. The first home I shared with my husband existed under a pall of several family issues. Last year, though, we went to look at a house on a whim. My husband still can't say what caused him to look up houses. We'd toyed with the idea of buying a house, and knew we would probably end up having to (long story) but neither of us were ready. But he found this lovely little hundred year old house, a fixer upper, and we went to look at it for shits and giggles.
The moment I walked in, I felt at home. It was as if the house had been waiting for us. I didn't need to look around - I knew I wanted it. We bought it and moved in. One of the first things I did was rip up the carpet to reveal this beautiful old hard wood floor - lovely dark color with these wide planks. I felt the house sigh, as if shaking off years of dirt and dust. The next thing I did was fix the plaster on the walls. We didn't want to rip it completely off, because we liked the way it looked, and it was original to the house, but parts of it were cracked. So I got a big bucket of spackle and, using only my fingertips, I repaired every bit of busted plaster. This time, I felt the house heave a sigh that seemed born of pain. Like I had put salve on a burn.
And I know what you're thinking - I'm a looney. And you're right, but not for these reasons. Lots of people who walk into my house say the vibe is very happy. Our neighbor, who grew up across the street and knew the family before us (we are only the second owners), says he has never seen the house so happy.
Anyhow, getting back to the book - I liked how the author maintained that Marek couldn't feel the house. It would've been very easy to have this ending where he's all "I feel it now!" but it wouldn't have made sense, and it wouldn't have rung true. I also liked how one of the supporting characters brought a bit of logic to a very emotional situation, because frankly I agreed with him. Marek learns a very hard lesson just before moving to Fiji, and it's one that many of us struggle with - the lesson that the people we treasure are more important than anyone's opinion of you, and that no one should feel forced to hide who they are for the comfort of others.
The writing was well done, the sex scenes were emotional and erotic - just the way they should be.
Over all, I'm glad I picked up this book, and I'd probably re-read it one day.
