Doggone Blog Hop for Charity

Meet Mindy and Wallace.

They came to us under very different circumstances. I work at a veterinary clinic, and the local shelter brought in a six month old pug with a broken leg to be put to sleep. Of course, I took him on the spot. We named him Wallace. Shortly after he got better, it became pretty clear to us that he needed a friend. We called a local shelter, told them the situation, and they said they had the perfect dog. We threw Wallace in the car, sped down the road, and adopted a furry ball of fire whom Hubby named Mindy.

At first, Wallace just wasn't sure of her. She was a girl after all, and girls have cooties. But it didn't take long until they became buddies. Now, they're virtually inseparable. They sleep together and play together - in fact, they spend most of their time by each other's sides.

For my donation today, I'm pledging 50% of my royalties of all of my Breathless Press titles, found here, now through the end of July to Tanners P.A.W. S, a local rescue.

For my hoppers, I'm offering up a free pdf copy of your choice of any of my Breathless Press titles. Just head over to Breathless Press and look up DC Juris.

We kept my brother's family's Bernese mountain dog this weekend...she's adorable, but tends to stop in weird places. Imagine a 70-pound furry ottoman...

    1. Yikes, looks like the spammers on the Yahoo groups finally got me today...changed my password as soon as I found out, but since you're in my contacts list, I figured I should give you a heads-up. I apologize if you got/get anything sketchy (and thanks again for the hop)!

  2. The most special dog in my life was Lucy - she was born into my hands and 17 years later she died there too. In the intervening time she was a constant source of unquestioning love and companionship.

Though that said the special dog in my life right now is Maddy and she helps me keep fit and keeps me in stitches of laughter because she is so aptly named :D

Growing up I had a Collie/german shepard mix named Dutch that gollowed me everywhere. I haven't had another one since. My hubs and I have been discussing adopting one for our son, maybe its time :-)

  5. We had state police dog that lived with us and our other dog. This one would help rob the house but don't touch the cruiser.

  6. All of my dogs have been rescue dogs! My oldest one, Krunchy, passed a few years ago and Hemi passed 1 year ago. I miss them terribly. I am now the happy mommy of 2 more fur babies, Rowan, a Rottweiler mix, and Koko, a Pit Bull mix. 2 of the most amazing, sweetest dogs that ever live!

  8. We brought our dog to the States from India when we moved here. She was such a great dog. Unfortunately, we lost her to cancer a couple of years ago and have not felt like having another dog since then.

  10. TOP DOG.

We've only had one dog in 50 years because we're apartments dwellers (several cats though, currently I have 3). Velvet was found in a camp ground, she was abused by some of the visitors so we took her to her forever home. She was a cocker spaniel mix of some type and had the sweetest disposition, perfect for a family with 4 kids (well just 2 under seven when we got her). It's been 37 years since she died and she's still at the front of my memories, they haven't faded much.
