My favorite mythological creature is the minotaur. I'm not talking about the old stories of mazes and whatnot, I'm talking about the creations of Author Richard Knaak.
He's far and away the best fantasy writer around today. He weaves intricate worlds and complex characters.
Not surprisingly, my favorite of his characters is Kaz the Minotaur. Though he's part beast he's no brainless brute, and I think that's what I like about him and Knaak's writing.
For my prize today, I'm offering up a set of his books. These are hardcover books - not ebooks. (I'll have them sent to the winner directly from Amazon). Here are the links for the books I'm giving away:
Night of Blood (Dragonlance: The Minotaur Wars, Vol. 1) [Hardcover]
Tides of Blood (Dragonlance: The Minotaur Wars, Vol. 2) [Hardcover]
Empire of Blood: The Minotaur Wars, Volume Three [Hardcover]
Again, to be clear, these are *not* my books and they are *not* romance. But they *are* fabulous! I've read and own all three!
To enter to win, just leave a comment below telling me your favorite mythological creature. Be sure to include your e-mail!
GOOD LUCK!!
****PLEASE BE AWARE: I write GLBTQ romance. GLBTQ stands for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer. This means my works feature same sex relationships AND same sex sexual acts. I've always enjoyed seeing an author take existing mythology and putting their own spin on it to create complex worlds and characters. I was named after the Greek Prophetess Cassandra and have always found her story to be educational ;)

I haven't had that many opportunities to read a lot of books with mythological characters in it but I am partial to dragons and phoenixes.

Thanks so much for this recommendation. I'd love to read these Minotaur stories. I think my favorite mythical figure is Coyote Trickster. And maybe the Signifying Monkey!

ReplyDeleteI think either dragons or griffins are my favorite mythological creatures. And I don't really have a favorite myth story because all the Gods and Goddesses are terribly flawed and the stories usually don't have happy endings :\

That series was awesome!!! Richard Knaak gave readers a completely different perspective of the minotaur.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite creature has always been dragons. I'm completely obsessed with them.

Just wanted to add in here to say that Pandora's Box is a favorite myth of mine. I just love the end where Hope is still there at the end. That always speaks to me.

Hm, I like so many creatures of myth because you can't seem to have one without the other :D I absolutely loved the old original Clash of the Titans so I think from that movie alone my favorite creature from myth has to be the Kraken. If that one doesn't count, I can go with the hydra. That one was always pretty cool :D Minotaurs are really awesome as well of course! I just love them all!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the chance to enter the giveaway and have a great day/night one and all.

There are so many interesting creatures. I think maybe Elves. I always felt sorry for the Minotaur that was trapped in the Maze and I'm glad to see there is a line of stories that have a Minotaur with intelligence.

My favorite myth based "animal/charcter" would have to be a toss up between dragons and pegasus... Both beautiful, can fly, and warriors can ride them :)
ReplyDeletej.m.platt83@gmail.com
My favorite myth based creature, as cliche as it is, are dragons. They're so intense and cool looking. Were they real, I would definitely try and keep one as a pet.

My favorite mythical creatures are centaurs! Half man and half horse can there be a better combination?
