Romancing the Hop Blog Hop

Hi all!! ::waves:: I'm participating in the Romancing the Hop Blog Hop!

People always seem taken aback when I say I write GLBTQ romance. They either don't know how to respond, didn't realize there such a thing *existed,* or they think I write porn.

I'll be the first to admit, some of my books are heavy on the sex and light on the substance. Why? Because I like to write about sex!

But most of my stories carry a romantic theme. Whether it's the fated-to-be-together werewolf Calliph and werecat Mateo from "Omarati," or the older man David and the hot little stud muffin Brandon from "A Good Bargain," or even the Human William and the native alien Intugu from "Torn" in the "Simply Smut" anthology - everyone falls in love.

Why? Because love is thrilling. It's fun, scary, horrific, uplifting, joyous, sad, depressing, adventurous, lazy, hot, passionate, lukewarm - every emotion possible is wrapped up in love.

To that end, I like writing romances. I like seeing my characters find their "one" - I like watching them struggle to overcome obstacles so they can be together. I like that warm and fuzzy feeling when they find their happily ever after.

What about you?? Why do you like romances so darn much??

Leave a comment below with your answer, and your e-mail, and I'll enter you to win a free pdf copy of my 7-story anthology "Simply Smut."

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

****PLEASE BE AWARE:  I write GLBTQ romance. GLBTQ stands for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer. This means my works feature same sex relationships AND same sex sexual acts. If being associated with that isn't your cup of tea, kindly pass on to the next blog in the hop and leave the spot open for someone else. Thank you.****

  1. I never would have read romances if it weren't for m/m, because all the het romance plots I'd seen looked so cliched. A happy ending is paramount, but the permutations of how to get there is what makes romance fun.

  3. I like romance for the same reasons, it is all about watching the main couple develop that connection and overcome any hurdles that might be in their way.

  4. I like reading romances, seeing how the couple overcome their problems, finding how they can't live without each other, coming to the HEA.

  7. Most of the GLBTQ romance that I have read has featured characters who tend to be much more human and vulnerable than those in the het romance that I read for years. I think that reading in this genre has not only become a favored way to pass the time, but also another avenue to consider things from another's point of view.

  8. I love romances because every characters journey to love is different. Romance is different for every one & every couple. What is romantic to a man may not be romantic to woman and that is what I like. Thank you for the giveaway.

  28. I read primarily GLBTQ romance and BDSM stories because they are more raw and more real to me than others. Even with werewolves, vampires, wizards or zombies, the underlying stories pull me in and are ultimately more satisfying as an escape and as a means to relax and enjoy a good story rather than the more generic books.

  33. Romance is about putting another before yourself. Wanting to do the little things so that that other person is happy, thus making you happy. This is the essence of the romance I love to read.

  34. It's hard but I'll try to list some reasons on why I like romance so much. I like the feelings, the happy endings, the 'lightness' (not having to think so much), the escape that romances provide for me. I also like the sex but it isn't the #1 reason that I like romance. I don't think that I could list them in # order. Thanks for being a part of the hop. I hope that you have a great labor day weekend.

  37. I love romances for the HEAs that don't seem to happen as often in reality, how love always conquers all, and yes, even the journey. Just because love conquers all doesn't mean you don't need to work for it. :)

  41. One of the things that I love most about the romance genre is that you can find a great book to read, no matter what you are in the mood for. Historical, contemporary, futuristic, paranormal, sci-fi, BDSM, m/f, m/m, m/f/m, m/m/f, etc. So many delicious choices ;)
