Cranberries and Spice Blog Hop

Please be aware: I write GLBTQ romance. This blog posting contains an excerpt from an m/m/m romance - that's male/male/male. As in male/male/male sex. As in a threesome.
If that ain't your cuppa, please move along
and make room for the next person.

I don't have any Thanksgiving-themed stories, but I do have a hot little Christmas tale. So... I'mma be all rebellious and junk and share an excerpt from that one. It's called "Perfect Christmas." Like most things in my life, this snippet is Rated R!!

Leave a comment below and you'll be entered to win a free pdf copy. :-)

Enjoy!!

Blurb: Depressed and lonely, Evan has nothing to look forward to on Christmas but his TV dinner and store-bought cookies, while his lover, Drake, spends the holiday traveling for business. But a special delivery changes everything, and Evan finds himself in the middle of a perfect Christmas. Worn out from his stocking stuffer, Evan's not sure how he's going to handle his present, but when Drake reveals that Evan's gift is a threesome with none other than their hunky friend Mike, Evan summons the energy!

Excerpt:

Drake straightened, stepped back, and stretched. He flashed Evan a dazzling smile. “Now we can head to the bedroom.”

“I was starting to like the bathroom,” Evan admitted.

“Well, if you want to open your present, you need to go to the bedroom.”

Curiosity piqued, Evan slid down off the sink. Drake took his hand and led him to the adjoining bedroom. In the middle of their big, black lacquer, four-poster bed, naked except for a pair of black leather underwear with a silver zipper, was their friend Mike. The soft glow of candles surrounded them but no heat radiated from them; Evan recognized them as the flameless battery operated ones he’d bought online last year but had never used.

“How?” Evan managed to whisper, just before his jaw dropped open.

“I called him on the way here and arranged it,” Drake explained, his tone full of pride.

“I snuck in the backdoor after Drake got home.” Mike grinned sheepishly. “No pun intended.”

“Remember when you said you wondered what he was like in bed?” Drake asked, pressing his lips to Evan’s ear.

Evan nodded, mouth too dry to talk. Not that he didn’t find Drake’s boyish good looks and curly blond hair attractive, and not that he didn’t feel content and fulfilled with their relationship, or their sex life—he did. But there was something about Mike—an animal magnetism in those large, dark eyes—that had always tempted Evan. Mike was the tallest man Evan knew, towering well over six feet, with a hunky build and chestnut skin that bespoke of exotic travels, action and adventure, and completely belied his ordinary, down home life as bartender at the local gay club. Evan would never have acted on his fantasy, of course, but with Drake giving permission and Mike willing, how could he say no?

“Aren’t you going to unwrap your package?” Mike wiggled his hips, flickering light glinting off the metal zipper.

Drake moved to stand behind Evan, pressing their bodies together, the proof of his excitement obvious as the long, hard ridge of his cock nudged Evan’s ass. “Go on,” he encouraged.

Evan took several slow, measured steps forward, reawakening cock swinging between his legs.

“He looks good enough to eat, doesn’t he, Mike?” Drake asked.

Mike nodded. “I’m eager for a taste.”

Evan shivered and sat down on the edge of the bed, reaching a trembling hand for the zipper. His fingers fumbled, bumping Mike’s cock through the leather and Mike let out a long, low moan that went straight to Evan’s cock.

The Power of Love Blog Hop

For my part in the hop, I'm giving you a snippet of my m/m romance set in the zombie apocalypse, "Bad Moon Rising." (Don't worry - nobody gets sexy with a zombie - it's not *that* kind of zombie romance!)

One lucky reader will win a free pdf copy - just leave a comment below, including your e-mail, to be entered. Good luck!!!

Blurb:

Bryce never expected to find himself smack in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, and he certainly never expected to meet the man of his dreams along the way. But there's more than zombies in the way of his happily ever after. Richard comes with baggage, in the form of his on again, off again bipolar lover Cole, who is off his meds and descending into his own mental hell at an alarming rate. Will the three men be able to work out their romantic feelings? Oh yeah...and then there's that little issue of the zombies...
Excerpt:

Maybe I could try to talk some sense into Richard. Make him see Cole’s point of view. “Richard—”

He held up a hand. “Don’t. I don’t want to hear it. Just c’mon and let’s shower.”
I followed him reluctantly. Even the luxurious draw of hot water after so long couldn’t make me feel any better.
Richard turned on the shower water and fumbled with his clothing. I stood in the corner, suddenly unsure what to do. Should I wait for him to get in and then undress? Did he expect me to undress now? What would he think of my body, when he saw it? I wasn’t fit like him—my love handles were more like love steering wheels. Would he even notice me?
He glanced at me. “You need help?”
“Huh?”
“With your clothes? Are they stuck to your wounds or anything?”
“Um...” I couldn’t think. Richard stood before me, naked and beautiful. His big, burly chest, covered with a thick mat of dark hair that made me want to run my fingers through it, his little paunch of a belly that made me want to make raspberries on it, his powerful trunk-like thighs that made me want to lay down between them and lick them, his thick, stubby cock that made me want to fall to my knees and wrap my lips around it.

“Bryce?”

“I...um...” What had he asked me? If I needed help? Jesus Christ, no. Help meant that delicious body of his being close to mine, and I didn’t think I could handle that at the moment. “No. No, I’m... you’re... I can do it.”

I felt like a child learning to tie his shoes, shouting I can do it and holding up his foot to show off his success as I unzipped my jeans and pushed them past my hips. I peeled my shirt off over my head and stood there with my arms in front of my body like an idiot.

“You trying to kill two birds with one stone?”
“Am I...what?”
Richard laughed and pointed at my boxers. “You going to wash those in the shower too?”
“Oh. Yeah. No.” But I didn’t move. I couldn’t. One, Richard would finally see me fully naked, and I was nowhere near as sublime as he. And two, the raging erection between my legs was a bit of a nightmare.

Richard walked over, tipped my face up to his, and grinned at me. “I can see your boner through your underwear, you know. You’re not hiding anything.”

I gazed up into his face—bright eyes, days’ worth of stubble, and that sweet, pouty bottom lip. Fuck my life.

He knelt down in front of me and tugged my boxers down. “Step out,” he instructed, the heat of his breath grazing my cock. He laid his hands on my hips to steady me as I stepped out of my boxers.

“There. Much better.” Richard ran his hands up my sides as he stood. “Shall we?” He stepped into the shower and reached a hand out for me. “Careful,” he warned as I stepped in. “It’s a little slippery.”

I gasped as the water hit my back. I couldn’t recall anything so luxurious in my whole life. I’d never travelled or spent any time at any fancy hotels or anything like that, but I had to believe they didn’t have anything on Doctor Austin’s shower.

“He thinks I want you.”

Richard’s voice brought me back to reality and I opened my eyes to look at him. He stood there casually, not close enough to make contact, but not so far away as to insinuate contact would be unwelcome. I gestured to our bodies and the shower. “How is this supposed to show him he’s wrong?”

“Who says he’s wrong?” He arched an eyebrow and held out a bar of soap.

The bluntness of the question startled me, and I just stood there staring at him wide-eyed and open-mouthed for a few sec- onds. I reached for the soap, palm open, so I wouldn’t be tempted to touch him any more than was necessary. “You want me?”
Richard shrugged. “Of course I do. You’re handsome. You’re gay. I’m gay. We’re in a heinous situation. Emotions are high. Stress is high. I’m not getting it anywhere else. But wanting you and doing anything about it are two different things, and Cole ought to know that by now.”

“True.” And I supposed that, after being reduced to a situational convenience, I was just as happy he wasn’t doing anything about it after all.

We finished the shower, me trying hard to ignore Richard’s nakedness. Richard seemed so enthralled in the idea of hot water I didn’t think he even noticed me. He left the shower first while I was still busy picking dirt and dried blood off my legs and arms, and trying not to twist my ankle again in the slippery, soapy water. By the time I’d finished, toweled off and changed into a pair of pajamas I’d found, he was already ensconced in the living room couch, polishing off a glass of wine.

Richard poured another glass of wine and downed it in four gulps. He sniffed me as I walked by. “You smell good.”

“So do you.” I sat down next to him. “It’s the soap.”

“You look good, too.”

“Showers will do that. You’re half-drunk already.”

He turned and ran his fingers along my cheek, tipped my chin up and leaned in, his mouth just a wisp of air away from mine. “Do you care?”

I didn’t. God help me, I didn’t. “Cole might.”

He pulled his hand away, chuckled, and poured out more wine. “You know, it’s not polite to stare at a man when he’s trying to drink alone.”

I raised an eyebrow. “You want to be alone?”

“Want?” Richard shook his head slowly and took another gulp of wine. “No.” He looked at me, and the sadness in his eyes made my heart hammer. “But it doesn’t matter what I want.” He drank more wine, pointed to the door. “You should find something else to do. Before it doesn’t matter what you want, either.”

He looked me up and down and licked his lips, and I took the words for the warning they were. Drunk Richard was apparently not someone I wanted to trifle with. I couldn’t help but tempt fate, though. “If all I am is a matter of convenience, then what difference does it make to you what I want?”

“Who said that’s all you were?”

“You did. In the shower.”

Richard laughed and tossed back another few gulps. “I like you, Bryce. I don’t love you. I don’t know you enough to love you. But I know you enough to like you.” He leaned forward again, brushed his lips against mine and it took all my will power not to wrap my arms around his neck and turn that brush into a real kiss.

“And I know you enough to want you.” He pulled back. “And I do care what you want. That—” he belched and wiped his mouth “—that should be obvious.” He pointed to the door. “Door’s still there.”

I stood and walked out into the kitchen, found Cole seated at the bar.

Friendly Friday: Featuring J.M. Powers & GIVEAWAY (m/f)

Please welcome to my blog today, fellow Breathless Press author J.M. Powers!

Hello, I'm a guest blogger and I don't know what to write about. Can I just sit here, munch on chocolate and watch DC Juris write his books?

Okay…stop drumming your fingers, DC I'm on it.

What should I talk about? Me? Why I write? What inspiration I draw from?

Seriously now, do people really want to know the inner thoughts of an author who writes about time-travel, sorcerers, knights, whores, feisty wenches, sex and a magic stone? Hm….yeah!

*Inhales…gulps…burps.* Shit. I meant to exhale a little more attractively than that. Oh well, anything from here on out is bound to be more entertaining than that.

I'm J.M. Powers, highly acclaimed, bestselling romance author. I am frickin insane not normal. I don't wish to be and I think the people who come at me with strait jackets give the ol' side-eye are really wishing they could act stupid in public too.

Why do I write? I'm inspired by the smallest things, and the characters come alive in my head. So I set them free in my books.

Let's move on to the whole time-travel-sorcerer-knight-whore-wench thing. Oh, and the MAGIC STONE.

Let's start with what inspired me to write For All Time.

I was walking my dog in a nature reserve on my island. Yes I live on an island, and yes I call it mine even though I don't own it. (I should've warned you I ramble. Bear with me.)

My dog is frickin nuts. He barked at a coyote, a fox and my sunglasses. Though he simply wanted to play, his bark would sound a lot like I want to fucking eat your face off to a stranger. I wondered what he'd do if a stranger was hanging out in the trees. Then wondered why I thought that. I scared myself and high-tailed it back to my truck.

That's how For All Time came about. A guy in a tree. A girl walking her dog near said tree. He's hot. She's kinda freaked out and the dog is…you got it. Barking like he wants to eat the guys face off. Until hottie dude falls out of the tree. Then ferocious canine wants to play. So does she.

Next!

Book Two, Timeless Valentine, was inspired by a bank I worked at.

No, wait.

The bank didn't inspire a damn thing. It was a lap- me- up hot guy standing in line at the bank. Every teller wanted to wait on him. Yum. Inspiration indeed. I started scribbling the idea for my next book right then. Call me a nerd.

In the book, a teller wants hot-guy-customer. Until he puts a rock on her counter and says it led him to her. Yeah. Uh. Wanna just make a deposit in me instead?

Now for book three… STOLEN TIME. Today is release day!

This book was inspired by a minor character in book one Let me tell you, this woman, Margery, refused to stop stabbing my mind with a dagger until I told her story.. (Medieval people and their daggers. Sheesh!)

So, in honor of Margery, who actually stole the magic stone and traveled to modern day….

I'm giving away one copy of Stolen Time to a lucky commenter on this post. Winner contacted via email and announced on my blog http://jmpowersromance.blogspot.com/

Thank you DC Juris, for having me!

You can read more about these books at Breathlesspress.com, Amazon and most places e-books are sold. Hey, you should visit my blog too. There, you'll find book trailers, blurbs, buy links and more. I'll happy dance until my boss tells me to get back to work be honored if you become a follower, but it's not a requirement for the give-away.

NEW RELEASE: Family Matters

Blurb:

Chains? Check. Lube? Check. Popsicles? Check!! Oscar and his transgender lover, Derek, are all set for a long weekend of some much needed--and more than a little bit kinky--alone time. When Derek gets an invitation to a get-together from his mother, Oscar is excited for the chance to finally meet Derek's elusive family, even if it'll cut their "festivities" short. But he soon learns the reasons why he hasn't met them yet - the majority of Derek's family, including his mother, are transphobic. Oscar and Derek attend the function anyway, but the stress sends Derek into an all-night migraine, and Oscar is forced to look for help from the last person he wants to: Derek's mom, Beverly. Can Oscar convince
Beverly that Derek is her child, regardless of gender? Or will Beverly's narrow-minded ways split her family apart for good?

Excerpt:

Oscar looked up from the newspaper and nearly spit his morning coffee all over himself. "What the fuck are you wearing?" Derek stood just outside their bedroom door. In a dress. A frilly lavender dress, pantyhose, and a pair of shiny black heels.
Derek hung his head. "I told you we were going to my family thing today."
"So?"
"My mother hates Derek. She wants me to be Amy." Derek's shoulders sagged. "So I'm Amy."
"Fuck that! Go change." Anger flared in Oscar so intensely that he was forced to put his mug down or else spill the contents with the shaking of his hand. Derek had said his family didn't approve, but this? Criminal. How dare anyone make Derek feel like he wasn't good enough! How dare anyone demand that he change, that he apologize for who he was!
"I can't." Just a whisper.
"Then we're not going. Or I'm not. I'm not going to watch you play dress up and parade around for their approval. That's fucking bullshit! There's nothing wrong with the way you are, and if those assholes can't see that then fuck them, wubby bear. Fuck every last one of them."
"My mother hates Derek," Derek repeated. He stood stiffly, an air of uncomfortable tension radiating from him.
"Your mother ought to be glad her kid's still alive," Oscar spat, thinking of his childhood friend Maria, who'd been unable to handle the pressures of her gender confusion, and had killed herself.
"I think she'd prefer dead Amy to live Derek."
Oscar's face flushed with the red heat of rage. He stood, shaking his head, and took Derek by the elbow. "Come change. Now."

NEW RELEASE - "Nothing to Forgive"

Blurb:

Finally done with war and fighting, Hadryk, a military officer, has agreed to be a pup host - to be impregnated - in order to protect his lover, Vodwynn, and he can't hide the proof much longer. Embarrassed and worried, he considers staying with his brother instead of going home, but, drawn by his love, he goes home to Planet Torbid and Vodwynn. Vodwynn reacts as anyone would. But when he realizes the sacrifice Hadryk has made, can he change his mind? Can he open his heart to discover the new wonders of Hadryk's body, and how strong their love truly is?

Excerpt:

The stars whizzed by in mesmerizing streaks of white, giving way to wispy nothing violet clouds as they entered the atmosphere. Hadryk stared out the window at the approaching ground of Planet Torbid. He should be happy to see his home. Instead, his guts twisted and he broke out in a cold sweat. How would he explain things to his lover? How would he make Vodwynn see he’d had no choice in the situation?

The shuttle descended sharply, and one of the guards got to his feet, tight gorton hide armor creaking softly with his movements. “General.”

Hadryk nodded to the guard and stood and his heart sank into his boots.

The guard snapped to attention and raised a hand in salute, thumb against his temple, fingers splayed wide. “On behalf of the Predeck and a grateful Legion, I thank you for your service.”

Hadryk grunted and returned the salute. He stepped off the shuttle, out of the confines of that quiet little dark cocoon, and into the bright, bustling day of his homeland. Chill winds met him, and he was thankful for the extra layers he wore, even if they hadn’t been intended to stave off the cold. Portak and Borta, the twin moons, could just be seen to the far east, harbingers of not far off dusk. He shouldered his pack and started off down the street.

Strangers rushed up to him, some giving mock salutes, others patting him on the back and wishing him well. If any of them had actually known him, they might have noticed that he looked a little different. A little bigger. A little fatter. But no one seemed the wiser. Perhaps he could keep it that way—at least for a while.

He arrived at his home and stood there on the wide bottom step, staring stupidly at the door, his gaze tracing the intricate scrollwork of his family crest. Vodwynn wasn’t expecting him for another cycle or two. He shuffled his feet and glanced up and down the street. Perhaps it would be better to stay somewhere else for the time being. He could hop another shuttle—take one to Darmuth and stay with his brother, Tamar. That might be the best thing to do, considering. He ran a hand down over his belly absently. He could send Vodwynn a message; say he would be back in six cycles—that would be enough time.

“Hadryk?”

Hadryk cursed silently and looked up to see his lover standing in the doorway. Warm light from within shone like a beacon. He hadn’t heard the door open.

“By the twin moons!” Vodwynn threw his arms around Hadryk’s neck, sobbing happily. He pulled back and stood close, hands holding Hadryk’s cheeks. His gaze strayed to Hadryk’s hair. Or lack thereof. “Your hair...” He stroked Hadryk’s once long locks.

Hadryk had all but forgotten about the hair until today. Visions of desolate sands flowing into sweltering swamplands clouded his mind. He shook them off with a shrug. “Durcat gets hot during the summer. We all cut our hair.”

“You’re shivering!”

Was he? Hadryk hadn’t noticed. He reached out and touched Vodwynn’s cheek, trailed his fingers down the side of Vodwynn’s face. “The day is cold. Nothing more.”

“Come, I’ll start a shower to warm you.”

Not the homecoming he had wanted, but neither was the homecoming he wanted the one he could have. Not anymore. Not like this. He followed Vodwynn into their home—everything looked so familiar and comfortable, from the overstuffed couch to the blanket with abandoned book atop piled haphazardly in Vodwynn’s favorite chair—and down the hall to the small washroom. He stood to the side as Vodwynn prepared the water, humming softly and looking over at him every now and then with a sweet smile that broke his heart. The banging and groaning of the metal pipes made him flinch.

Vodwynn straightened and gestured to the shower stall. “I can stay. Help you...” That sweet smile turned to a seductive one, and Hadryk swallowed down bile.

NEW RELEASE!!! "Bad Moon Rising"

Excerpt:

I jerked awake to the sound of glass shattering. A quick glance around told me it wasn't our window, but something outside, nearby. Fuck! The car! I jumped up but Richard caught my arm and yanked me down next to him.

"Stay down!"

"What's going on?" I whispered.

"Looters," Cole revealed. "They're going up and down the street, searching cars."

Well, at least they wouldn't steal it, since we had the keys, and the chances of them sticking around to do any real damage to it seemed pretty slim, too. All we had to do was wait it out, and they'd go away.

Dolly stood and paced to the door, walking back and forth in front of it like she was on guard duty.

On the street, yelling broke out, and gunshots echoed in the night. Richard cursed.

Our visitors had apparently been discovered. Shouts of run and look out descended into just inarticulate screaming and then the unthinkable: Dolly started barking.

Cole lunged for her, but the damage had already been done. The people outside started banging on our door, pleading to be let in. "What do we do?" I looked to Richard, who was shaking his head.

"Nothing."

"But if we don't let them in, they'll be infected," I argued. Those were people outside--we had to help them. What if the roles were reversed? What if that had been me outside?

"And if we do let them in, we'll be infected." He reached for one of our backpacks and started shoving things inside. "We can't stay here. Cole, shut that damned mutt up!"

"I'm trying!" Cole struggled with Dolly, trying to get her calmed down and quiet.

Richard shoved a bag at me, hitting me square in the chest and bringing me back to reality. "Pack light. We'll be walking."

"The car--"

"Is compromised. We'll never get near it. Hurry up. Cole!"

Cole scrambled back to us, dragging Dolly behind him. Outside the shouting and banging intensified. Someone must've gotten smart, because a brick came careening through an exposed part of the door glass near the top. It sailed through the air, barely missing Richard's head.

"Time to go!" Richard shoved Cole toward the back door. "Bryce, help me with the boards!"

I grabbed up a discarded hammer and handed it over to him while I fished in my bag for the crowbar I'd brought. We struggled with the boards, hacking and pulling. Richards face turned red with his exertion, and I felt the warmth of my own efforts spreading out from my arm muscles, making my chest tight and painful.

"Hurry up, guys!" Cole shouted.
